Durability by Climate
Wood holds heat better and performs well in cold climates, but it needs periodic sealing or paint to resist rot and moisture damage. Plastic doesn’t rot or absorb moisture, making it the stronger choice in hot, humid climates where wood is more prone to mold and warping over time. In direct, intense sun over many years, some plastics can become brittle from UV exposure, so quality of the plastic resin matters more than it does for wood.
